Five Things You Should Never Forget To Bring On Your Vacation

1/12/2009

When we plan for a vacation, most of the time, the only thing we think about is how to have fun and relax during those times. We get pre-occupied on planning all the activities, looking for the best local restaurants and tourist spots and how to get there. We are so hyped up for that trip that we think nothing can go wrong.

But there are times that some things won't turn out the way we plan; an accident or a case of burglary perhaps. And when this happens to us in a foreign place, we get caught off guard and wish that we could have had some back- up plan in case things like these happen.

So before going on that vacation, take extra measures to secure your safety while on the trip. Read on and remember these helpful tips to ensure your safety in case of emergencies during the trip.

1. A photocopy of your passport and a valid government issued photo ID

Make a photocopy of your passport and ID in case the original ones get stolen. This would be very helpful once you report this to the proper authorities for evidence.

2. A copy of your insurance or a contact number of your insurance provider.

In case anything goes wrong and you need to make use of the travel insurance you purchased, say example, a medical emergency, you can easily call them up through the number that you secured before you traveled.

3. Extra cash of the local currency

Although credit cards will always come handy for any vacation, carrying cash in the local currency will help in case you need to purchase something and credit cards are not accepted.

4. Common medicines

When you get sick in the middle of your trip, these will always come handy if it takes you quite a while to get to the doctor. One of the helpful medicines you ought to carry aside from the common cold meds are anti-histamine or anti-allergic medicines in case you have eaten something that you allergic.

Also, never forget your personal stash such as your ventilator if you are asthmatic or the medicines that you regularly take if you are hypertensive or what not. Do not forget the official copy of prescriptions from your doctor. Why? Because there is a big possibility that these types of meds may not be available in the country or if ever they are, would need a prescription for purchase.

5. A map of your destination

It may look like you don't need it but it can be very helpful in cases that you get lost in the middle of the city where almost everyone does not speak your language.

Traveling outside the country could be a very scary thought especially when you are doing so alone. But if you take these extra precautions and you have left thorough information about the details of your destination at home, then you need not worry too much. Remember, being too prepared will never hurt you.
