Good Etiquette While On The Cruise

7/6/2008

What could be more exciting than spending the summer in a cruise ship with your family? Exciting destinations await the family on a luxurious ride with all the wonderful amenities that your children and teens can enjoy. Wait until you hear those great deals and discounts that are also available at very affordable and reasonable prices. It would be a festive summer and a memorable recollection later on. Sail on blue oceans and green seawater, indulge in the mouth-watering cuisine and meet and greet wonderful people on the ship who want nothing more than 100% fun. Certainly, no one wants to have a pissed-off cruise experience that will be such a waste of time. So, before your kids and your teens misbehave, brief them at home about what they're getting themselves at.

Orient everyone to not expect perfection from all the cruise's personnel and facilities. It is a huge crowd of different folks and some considerations would have to be made. A request may not be granted immediately, a stinking smell may come out once in a while, a ship attendant may overlook you, the restrooms may not be as clean as you want them to be. All these can be expected. Be considerate and follow the golden rule.

There are perfect times to be noisy and quiet. Cheers may come from a corner while a group of friends drink but at nights some people may prefer to sleep and rest. Closing cabin doors, boisterous laughter and ruthless movements may be within earshot. Act, talk and move responsibly. The key here is to act within limits.

Long lines maybe waiting on elevators so there are a few times that walking and climbing stairs would be the best option. Take the extra step and gather some strength so getting used to and exercising is a must.

Dress appropriately if you don't want everybody hovering and talking about you and if you don't want eyes glued on you. Wear something sexy but with dignity and respect. Do not wear too much jewelry. You don't need that on the ship and besides you would do yourself a favor by not attracting crime scenes.

Be courteous to other travelers; you may hear someone speaking in another dialect. Do not offend others as well with your own language. Remember that everyone just want to have fun.

When you're watching someone perform, be polite by participating. The entertainer will appreciate it if you are game to have fun.

During someone's embarrassing moment or during accidents, do not whine. Offer some help and be useful.

To show how thankful you can be for the service you have received, tip generously and do not be stingy. This goes to the elders of course.

A few giving in may not hurt that much but could earn a lot of respect and admiration. Offer a seat to an old lady or offer to exchange places reasonably.

Anyone in the ship who's looking for wholesome entertainment has a responsibility towards others and another person who's also equally looking for fun must learn to observe appropriate demeanor. Good behavior triples the fun!
