Three Reasons To Use A Rental Car With Higher M P G Ratings

11/18/2008

When you go to a rental service, you're given an array of cars to choose from. Of course, they all depend on how much you're actually willing to pay for the rental and for how long you intend on using it. You can actually choose if you would like a compact, a mid-sized sedan, a luxury sedan, and of course, an SUV. And if you're really going to need the space, there are even pick up trucks and perhaps even those of bigger sizes.

Now there's nothing wrong with choosing any of these, but there's always a matter of practicality that you need to address especially in these trying times. So now, let's talk about why cars with higher mpg ratings should be on your list of possible cars to rent.

1. Fuel economy could take some stress off your wallet.

Sometimes, we fail to see how much we're actually spending on gas. It had to take the energy crisis for almost all of us to realize how much money we actually waste because of fuel costs. It's no surprise however, that we consume so much fuel. That's because most of us like to drive the big cars.

Cars with a v-6 or a v-8 engine are gas guzzlers as most people would like to refer to them nowadays. If only you tried taking a look at their smaller counterparts, perhaps those in the category of a four cylinder type vehicle that rather sips gasoline than chug it all down in one mighty roar of the engine.

Think about it. Driving a car that's got a 40+ mpg rating is going to do wonders for your wallet. That means more money for you to save since your gasoline costs are definitely going to go down.

2. Lesser rental costs

If you rent a car that's considerably cheaper than their more expensive counterparts, you've got yourself a great deal. Besides, opting for the cheaper rental car doesn't always necessarily mean that you're getting the bad one. After all, do you think it would be fair for a car rental service to charge the same amount if you opted to rent a Honda Civic or a Hummer? Of course not, that would be totally unfair and preposterous.

Smaller cars mean cheaper rental fees. But of course, features won't come short of anything than expected. Even smaller cars have GPS, mp3 playable stereos, air conditioning units, cd players and power windows as well. Safety features are also never, never neglected. The only thing that differs between them is a bigger engine and quite contrasting mpg ratings.

3. Well, you can go farther on one full tank.

This perhaps, is one of the biggest advantages to renting a smaller car. It can still go fast, and yet it consumes gas that's only a fraction of what larger, more gas consuming cars usually gobble up. A longer driving range on one full tank would mean that this would increase your mobility, and will definitely not slow you down to wherever it is that you plan on going.
