Traveling is an option for many people who love to enjoy or relax with their families and friends. For many reasons, people love to travel because the goal at hand is definitely geared to a memorable event. There are, however, preparations to do; tickets need to be booked, hotel accommodations need to be taken cared of, car reservations have to be made, luggage has to be packed and everyone needs to be ready. On top of these, safety should be everyone's concern, not only for the parents or for the elders. When you decide to stay in the hotel, there are also appropriate safety precautions that must be observed all along. There are some important things that you need to look into to make sure your stay in the hotel is safe. So, upon checking in, try to do the following things: Check all door knobs and their locks. They should be in good working condition. Make sure that everyone understands how safety starts with secured entrances and doors to avoid any burglars and intruders. This also goes for adjoining doors, closets and windows. The entire room must look good enough to make you feel safe and secure. All hotel appliances must be in good condition as well and you should know how to operate them. Observe additional instructions requested by the management. A neglect of this is usually the cause of unwanted events. Educate yourself with the hotel's safety guidelines which include the route to emergency exits in case of fire. Read their safety protocol which is always provided for each hotel room. Be cautious about calls requesting your permission to enter into your room, to fix something or to bring you something. Verify these calls by calling the personnel in charge and validating the caller's identity and status with the hotel. Hotels make use of a tool that may not be familiar. Hotels have an equipment which is called a switchboard. Hotels must not divulge any client's information more importantly their designated room numbers and you can test that by calling from another phone number to inquire a similar question. When the hotel's personnel directly gives the number, this might be an indication of leniency. Instead, receptionists must be just able to connect you to the person you are inquiring about if that is your option. Place your belongings especially the most valuable ones in a safe place and not just anywhere inside the room. Exercise a special extent of caution when inside the hotel premises because you are probably in an unfamiliar setting. Never put out items to which monetary value is attached. Hotel keys must not be left anywhere but near your bedside where you can visibly see it and easily pick it up. Be responsible enough to refrain from leaving it on the room's entrance lock. Safety is a matter of responsibility and accountability. It is a two way process. While the establishment does it part, you are expected to adhere and you are also expected to act maturely when a call arises. |
